I feel real lucky to have been invited to take pictures of this tattoo season. Keone Nunes is a world renowned tattoo artists. His kind of Custom means a lot more then you going into a tattoo shop and picking out your designs. Nope, Keone does it the way i feel it should be done. I sat and listened to him talk to people that wanted work done. He got found out some things about them that helped him decide what would fit the person the best. That’s right, Keone designs it, and with meaning. Each symbol is a thought out expression of culture and identity. He specializes in Pacific designs so say you are come from a family on the Big Island of Hawaii, Keone knows which symbol represents your family and where you come from. That’s what i think makes a real tattoo. A representation of who you are and where you came from. A lot of the session dealt with respect. Respect for the person being tattooed and their ancestors as he feels they are present during the session.

Keone does his tattoo the original way with his tap method and hand made tools, his tattoos are EXACTLY the same way they would have been done 2000 years ago. Not many things in this life can you say that about.

I felt very honored to be involved in the session and to be able to take some pictures of the event. I felt i was fond of traditional tattoos before but now having actually seen it done I have a greater appreciation for Polynesian Tattoos
